Springville Playhouse Presents:

The Drowsy Chaperone
A Musical within a Comedy

This was my first time seeing all the talent
under the library.
The acting was extraordinary!
The singing superb!!
The dancing & choreography were excellent!!!

"The Drowsy Chaperone is presented to you as a cartoon caricature of a Jazz-age show of the 1920's. It spoofs those shows while at the same time paying homage to the power they held to transport us into a dazzling fantasy and to lifet our spirits in times of sadness. It is crammed full of every chliche, gag and gimmick from the golden age of musicals."

~The Director, Jay Knight

I loved the lively, witty cast.
The props were incredible.
Did I mention the vocals?!!
The colorful costumes and energy of the actors
were so amusing.
I especially loved the number,
"Show Off"
by Janet,
the glamorous bride who is giving up the stage for love.

After the play,
the audience gets to meet all the actors.
See Adolpho there?
The one with the gray streak in his hair.
He is hilarious and rocks the Latin accent!

The couple to be married in the play,
and married in real life!

It was a treat to meet these once-upon-a-time actresses
who are also sisters.
Nancy (on right) was in the very first play
performed in the Springville Playhouse in 1966!

I'm so proud of our Springville Playhouse!
And sadly, this is the last performance they will have
under the library.
The building is being torn down soon.
However,
there is a big effort going on to
Save the Rivoli,
the theater on Main Street now known as
the Villa Theater.
I also posted about it here.
Let's help save the Rivoli!!!!!

A booklet for sale at the playhouse,
detailing the last 65 years of history
of the Springville Playhouse.

If you'd like to donate to the restoration of the Rivoli,
go to savetherivoli.org

Have a lemonade stand!
Search your couch cushions!
Ask your mom!
Let's see what we can all do to
get the Rivoli restored and keep our beloved
Springville Playhouse cast going strong.

between the rides & the vendor booths!!!!!

The Art City Fanatic plays Vanna.

Yay!
If you saw my sign and decided to peek in here,
WELCOME to you!

lots going on at SMA

It has been busy, busy, busy
and will continue to be so
at the Springville Museum of Art.
On June 1st,
they had the Art Slam,
which was an event celebrating the artist in everyone.

The Art Buffet was absolutely GENIUS!
A whole table full of art supplies, trinkets, and embellishments
for anyone to help themselves in creating a masterpiece!

The place was brimming with
creative projects & happy children.

Also, there were professional artists
throughout the museum
working on their own paintings.
Inspirational to watch!

And a cake decorating demo, too!
Check out SMA's calendar to see
all the events coming up.

Especially the Children's Art Festival
this Friday at 10am to 2pm.
There will be booths set up for children to
'make and take' art projects,
as well as food & live entertainment!
Happy Art City Week!!!!!!!!!!!!!
